MOVIE CLUB DISCUSSION:
GIRL RISING
Join us!
Start the year inspired! Join Harvard Alumni for Global Women's Empowerment for our first Movie Club Discussion of 2026 on the documentary film Girl Rising, available across a variety of platforms, including on YouTube, right here.
Girl Rising is a documentary film that follows nine girls from around the world. They come from Haiti, Nepal, Ethiopia, India, Egypt, Peru, Cambodia, Sierra Leone, and Afghanistan. Each girl faces difficult barriers such as poverty, child marriage, limited education, and gender inequality. The film shows how education becomes a pathway to freedom, confidence, and opportunity.
Well-known writers and actors narrate each story, helping viewers emotionally connect with the girls’ journeys. The heart of the message is that when girls receive education, families, communities, and entire societies begin to change. The film highlights resilience, hope, identity, and courage.
