Harvard GlobalWE is pleased to announce an upcoming virtual GlobalWE event featuring our President, Sajida Shroff, nominee for elected HAA Director.  Sajida leads GlobalWE's efforts to educate and connect around women’s empowerment, while at the same time empowering girls and women through her professional work in emerging economies, improving education systems and structures in underserved populations.

 

Sajida is an international educational strategist based in Dubai. She has a 1995 EdM in Strategy and Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an MBA from Emory.  Our GlobalWE event will feature Charles (Chuck) Bergen AB 1977 JD 1981, Member of GlobalWE's Advisory Council and President of the Harvard Club of Chicago, interviewing Sajida about her personal path as a women of South Asian descent educated on 3 continents, addressing why education is a game changer for girls and women in emerging economies, and providing examples of her work in UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and elsewhere. Sajida Hassan Shroff, Chief Execution Officer of Altamont Group (Education Investment and Advisory), is an international educational strategist with over 20 years’ experience. Throughout her career, she has focused on improving education systems and structures to enable positive impact on underserved populations. Sajida is passionate about integrating strategic business practices in knowledge organizations; and committed to contextualizing education so it has enduring influence on communities served. Altamont Group is a boutique education investment & advisory that is focused on innovation in the emerging markets. Altamont Group, under Sajida’s leadership, has invested in diverse brick/mortar as well as technology higher education assets.  In addition, Altamont Group advises numerous governments across the emerging markets regarding Education Innovation through Strategy and Policies that cater to their needs; Education Investment; and Developing Smart Education Cities; advising government, NGO, and corporate entities across five continents, including in the UAE; enabling the alignment of education and business.

 

Her experiences with global entities include UNHCR, World Bank, Plan International, CIDA, UNESCO, OECD, NATO, Dubai Holding, UAE Prime Minister’s Office, Smart Dubai, Qatar Foundation, KSA Ministry of Labor, and Aga Khan Development Network; along with academic institutions such as Cambridge, McGill, Harvard, and Columbia. She is also engaged in several ventures across the emerging markets to develop smart education ecosystems.

 

Sajida is actively engaged in CSR including serving as President of Harvard Global Women’s Empowerment; President of Harvard Club of the UAE; Advisor for Aga Khan Education Board; Advisor for Integreat Special Needs Centre; Founder of Canadian Alumni in the UAE; and Advisor to the President (Governance, Academic Outreach, and Strategy) for e7 Daughters of the Emirates بنات الإمارات (Banat al Emarat); as well as being an Advisor at Harvard Innovation Labs.

Sajida has an EdM in Strategy & Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education; a MBA in Marketing, Management & Strategy from Emory University; and a BEd and a BA from the University of British Columbia. Sajida is from Kenya and grew up in the UK and Canada.
